Following Government advice during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency Effingham Parish Council (EPC) is unable to meet in public until further notice. The Council is therefore cancelling or postponing all its public meetings, including:

Parish Council Annual meeting Tuesday 14 April 2020 – CANCELLED

The Chairman’s Report for 2019-20, normally presented at the Annual Meeting, is available here. Please note that the Commoners Day 2020 mentioned in the Report has been deferred to September 2021.

The Government has recently passed emergency legislation, the Coronavirus Act 2020, which gives the Secretary of State powers to make regulations about the conduct of local authority meetings, and it is expected that EPC will be authorised to hold virtual meetings online. It is therefore intended that future Parish Council meetings will continue to take place online using video-conferencing. EPC hopes to enable public viewing of these virtual meetings, and we are investigating the technology to make this possible.

As usual, Agendas and Minutes of the meetings will be available to view on this website here. If you would like to make an input or representation to a meeting or send a message to councillors please do so by contacting the Clerk or sending in an email. All inputs and representations received will be made known to councillors.

We look forward to resuming public meetings again as soon as Government instructions allow us to, but in the meantime EPC will continue to strive to serve the residents of Effingham as best we can.

Ian Symes, Chairman
