Effingham Village Summer Fete 2005

fete051The Summer Fete of 2005 was held on July 9th and was organised by the Rotary Club of Bookham and Horsley. The weather was very overcast throughout but, as usual, the village made the best of the day anyway.

Music was provided by the Epsom & Ewell Silver Band. The Howard of Effingham School put on a display of gymnastics and the Effingham Karate Club showed off their martial arts skills.

Another familiar entertainment was given by the Croydon Airport Model Flying Club. There was also a parade of classic cars and an opportunity for teenagers to drive around the playing fields in a rather more modern vehicle.

For the younger children there was a fancy dress competition, with a nautical theme, besides a variety of amusement rides.

The day was rounded off by a dance evening, "A Touch of Blue", themed on the 1950s and 1960s.
